The title zii-prrrih refers to the contact calls of respectively kingfisher and great grey shrike, birds that are the subject of the two artists in this exhibition.
Hans Waanders saw the kingfisher as a metaphor for the life of an artist: balancing on the edge of existence, individualistic and exotic. Collecting and displaying all possible information about kingfishers was for him a way to bring order in the world.
Martin Brandsma considers collecting and displaying information about the shrike as a creative process. This process not only yields surprising and exciting art, but in collaboration with ornithologists, also potential new scientific insights.
