Sinds a few days the installation "Bunnies in Australia" by Heidi Linck can be visited at the exhibition Beelden op de Berg in Arboretum Belmonte, Wageningen. The exhibition runs until september 2008.
I installed tiles and tables, objects typical of build-up spaces, in a dark woodland with tall trees. There they loose their strict character, tracing the irregular surface of the land. Spatial characteristics that are normally easily overseen come to the fore: the relief of the soil, tree saplings, and spots of light and shadow on the forest floor. Moreover, the glossy tiles double the forest canopy by reflection.
While working on a drawing with tiles and tables, I wondered how the drawing would look like in an real space with real tiles and tables. The resulting installation shows a different “drawing” depending on the viewpoint.
