Roman Peter (1952)

The Basel-based artist Roman Peter paints everyday views: cityscapes and landscapes, within or without roads, cars, and people. Although we've probably never been there, his views look very familiar. The same is true for his monotypes of small pictures placed adjacent and below one another on paper. They present cartoons in which everyone will read another story.

The universal character of his work may have to do with the fact that he pains everything from memory, often based on impressions collected during of trips nearby and travels abroad.

Roman Peter has exhibited his work in Switzerland, Germany, Portugal and the USA. Galerie Wit presents his first show in the Netherlands.
