Lydia Lambrechts (1968)

<<    KunstRAI 2012    >>

Lydia Lambrechts studied at the Art Academy St. Joost at Breda , the Netherlands Broadcasting Organisation (stage scenery design) and graduated in 2003 that the Arnhem Art Academy. Her recent landscape paintings combine realism and imagination, with environmental change as a source of inspiration. They are based on own observations, photoghraphs and images from the internet, e.g. of extreme natural events such as forest fires, volcanic eruptions and floods. Yet her paintings emanate quiet, stillness, anonimity and austerity and bring about undefineble feelings of loneliness and desolation in the viewer. Even though always depicting outdoor environments, they are therefore reminiscent of Edward Hopper's desolate indoor and street scenes. For details see www.lydialambrechts.nl
