Tije Domburg (1947)
Preliminary paper models for his initial ceramic works suggested Tije Domburg (Rietveld Academie, 1968-1973) the use of paper as his working material. In series of white paper reliefs he continued his studies of light and shadow, of rhythm and of construction and deconstruction. Later he added ciphers and started using colour. Rubber or wooden printing forms were inked on by one and stamped; in regular patterns or seemingly scattered, both on the paper and on the inside of framing glass (and so in mirror image). A time-consuming, almost meditative and process, like an incantation. |
