You are very welcome to the vernissage of our first solo show of Heidi Linck , on Sunday June 6 2010 at 3 pm in Galerie Wit. Her colleague Fredrik Roes will give a short introduction to her latest work, in which she employs very different media (drawing, installation, video) to present her clearly delineated theme: presence and absence of and in space. Spaces change from stabile and systematic into unpredictable and variable. Her spatial interventions refer to how our reality changes all the time, continuously requiring re-examination and re-interpretion.
For this exhibition Linck developed the mobile installation "First move", based in the white and black squares of the chessboard. Also: new drawings of the series "Rich people having fun ": public spaces deserted after the crisis, drawn in black ink. These drawings strongly contrast with the film she shot for Art Amsterdam 2010: empty, white stands in the Amsterdam Rai Parkhall just before the gallery owners and the visitors came massing in.
Below: Several of the infinite number of possible configurations of "First move", 2010, scale model of an installation (wood, paint, metal).
